Street Lynx at Ultimate Jam Night #120

Street Lynx, Ultimate Jam Night 120, The Whisky, August 22, 2017

Ultimate Jam Night is now at Week 120, and still going strong, judging by the audiences converging upon the world famous Whisky A Go Go on a Tuesday night. Tonight’s theme was I’m with The Band, with special guests throughout the night including Chris Hager of Rough Cutt, Simon Wright of AC/DC, Sean McNaab of Lynch Mob, and Debby Holiday from The Rod Stewart Band. Also known to support local talent in the area, Ultimate Jam Night has been doing their Break At The Beach completion at The Venice Beach Bar. At this event, local bands compete for a coveted Ultimate Jam Night opening slot. One standout Break On The Beach contest winner was Street Lynx, a power trio who are really beginning to make a name for themselves within the Los Angeles music scene. And what a tremendous opening set Street Lynx unveiled, presenting a set of knockout original tunes as well as epic cover songs highlighting influences from Black Sabbath to The Offspring and beyond.

Elan Lopez is a dynamic guitar player, whose inspired leads are nothing short of rapturous. Kyle Abbott unleashed absolutely rock solid beats on drums and his professional style and infectious energy are a lot of fun to watch. And then there’s the captivating bass and vocal performance of front woman B.B., bringing the songs to an ultra vivid life with a thrilling amalgamation of punk rock and heavy metal stance. The three musicians who make up the Street Lynx brigade are massively talented – and whether they chose to play inspired covers such as Sweet Leaf and Sonic Reducer, or exhilarating originals such as Whatever and Gimme Gimme , Street Lynx is destined to garner a good deal of attention and admiration within and beyond the City of Angels. Be sure to catch Street Lynx at The Whisky on September 16th, when they’ll be opening the legendary Doro!
