London was one of the most notorious bands on the Sunset Strip during the glory days of hair metal, best known for their infamous appearance in the Penelope Spheeris documentary The Decline Of Western Civilization: The Metal Years. While members would come and go over the years, including soon to be big names such as Nikki Sixx, Blackie Lawless, and Izzy Stradlin, the one constant in the band was their superbly charismatic front man Nadir D’Priest. And although it’s been a good number of years since the last London studio effort, D’Priest and company are back with a vengeance unveiling Call That Girl! And what a wickedly wonderful collection of powerhouse tunes this one is!
Call That Girl kicks into supersonic gear with the high flying refrains of Far Away. An old time telephone ring is then heard, followed by the explosive Call That Girl title track – and this selection contains the most memorable singalong chorus of the decade. I Fell In Love With A Rebel is another anthem that is instantly memorable, highlighted by the Nadir D’Priest fiery leads, with grooving backing vocals plus epic keyboard interludes by Eric Ragno. Another grand and glorious highlight is Give Me A Kiss, with over the top vocals and heroic guitar artistry launching this one into high orbit.
Bringing the Sunset Strip heyday back in a badass way, London presents the next great chapter in an already devastating legacy. Rock and rollers of all ages should ring up Call That Girl and be prepared for a sonic extravaganza. The legacy of London rages relentlessly on, and you are going to crave every moment of its auditory decadence…
