Blind Revolution: Inspiring Melodic Rock from Sicily

Blind Revolution is an inspiring melodic rock collective from Sicily ready  to rock it out all around the world.  Money, Love, Light is the name of their debut album, now available through the almighty ROAR Rock Of Angels Records.  Fans of Whitesnake and Survivor may want to check into the tunes Blind Revolution has to offer and prepare to discover a new favorite band on the rise.  Highwire Daze recently interviewed vocalist Cristiano to find out more about this amazing AOR outfit from the wilds of Sicily.  Read on…

Introduce yourself, tell me what you do in Blind Revolution, and how long the band has been together.
Hi, I’m Cristiano, the singer. Thank you for having me. Simone (my brother and guitar player) and me founded the band in 2010. Actually, we’ve been playing together since we were young kids but in 2010 we felt ready enough to set up our definitive band, the one that would have allowed us to play our music. So, we asked Massimiliano (the bass player) to join us. We already knew him ‘cause he’s been playing in a local metal band that we supported. He said yes so we had a bass player. Then, we’ve been through some changes behind the drums until we finally succeeded to bring Giovanni (the drummer) on board in 2015. So, the current lineup is stabilized from 2015 and in 2017 we started to record the album. The rest, as they say, it’s history.

Where is the band based out of and what is the local music scene like there?
We all come from Siracusa, Sicily. You may not believe it but rock’n’roll is not so popular over here. Of course, there are people who listen to our genre of music but there are not many chances to play live ‘cause local clubs prefer tribute bands of pop music. But we never gave up and always kept our rock’n’roll dream alive simply ‘cause rock is our life and we’ve never seen a different way of making music.

How did you wind up signing with ROAR Rock Of Angels Records?
When the mixing and mastering process was over, we started to send the master to the most important labels on the field. Most of them were interested in us but Rock of Angels was the first to want us with such a determination. Those guys know what investing on talent means and they made us the best offer for sure. All we can do now is repaying their trust.

Is there any overall story or concept behind the Money, Love, Light album title?
It’s not literally a concept album. We were talking about the title and we had several ideas but none sounded good enough. Then, Giovanni literally spit that title out and it immediately sounded perfect. Is has a great impact and can summarize in three simple words the journey through the stories behind the songs. You can read it like an imaginary path from a more material level to a more spiritual one, but this is only one of the possible meanings. Someone could say that it’s banal but I think that often greatness lives into little things.

Select two songs from Money, Love, Light and what inspired the lyrics.
So hard to choose so I won’t respect your request 😀 I really love ‘Guiding Light’ and ‘Take The Magic Back’ because they simply sound great to me. If I had to choose two songs because of their lyrics I’d maybe mention ‘Money and Run’ and ‘Saints of our Days’ because of the “drama” behind their stories. ‘Money and Run’ is about domestic abuses and we took inspiration by thousands of sad true stories like that. ‘Saints of our Days’ is a hymn to simplicity; it talks about the “everyday heroes” like you and me who face terrible enemies everyday but we ain’t got no super powers like in the movies.

What could one expect from a live Blind Revolution show?
Ugly dudes !!! Ok, maybe we should work on plastic surgery and hair transplant but we can promise you the old winning recipe: blood and sweat. We love to have fun on stage so we’re not a band of posers for sure. You can expect to see four nice jokers playing some catchy melodies.

If Blind Revolution could open for any band either now or from the past, who would it be and why?
Maybe each Blind Revolution member would mention a different band. Once again I won’t respect your question and I’ll say two names : Whitesnake and Survivor; because ‘1987’ and ‘When Seconds Count’ have definitely change my life when I listened to it for the first time. If I had to choose a nowadays band I’d love to open for The Night Flight Orchestra; I really love everything they’ve done.

Has Blind Revolution ever played here in the States or plan to do so in future days?
Have you ever heard about “American Dream?”  Who wouldn’t love to play over there ? Unfortunately, we haven’t done as yet but it would be something crazy. We grew up listening to American rock bands, watching Miami Vice and stuff like that on the TV, so we belong to America in a certain way. I have part of my family and some friends in US so I’ll ask them if they can help to get something together for us ! Serious, it would be a dream come true.

Are you or any other members involved with any other projects outside of Blind Revolution?
Simone, Massimiliano and myself are totally focused on Blind Revolution. Giovanni is involved in some other studio project but I can say that Blind Revolution is lately the place he can call home.

What do you think has kept you so passionate about Blind Revolution since 2010 and what exactly keeps a band together for 10 years and counting?
Simone and I have always played together and we are very close in private life. Massimiliano and Giovanni soon became our close friends and the best partners for this journey. We’ve been through discussions and misunderstandings like happens in every band but our strong friendship helped us to always remain focused on the target. The past three years, with all the work on the album completions and release, have given us new motivations and we feel more willing than ever.

What’s up next for Blind Revolution?
We’d love to play the album Live. It would be nice to find some interesting festivals around the world and playing some selected gigs in Italy and abroad to take our music to the people. Moreover, we’re already working on new songs that are going to be part of the next album. We feel full of energy and inspiration. And if you like the first album, you’re gonna love the second one 😉

Any final words of wisdom?
I’d like to thank you once again for the precious work you do for emerging bands like us. We wanna say hi to all your readers; hope you all enjoyed the album, we’d love to see you all in front of the stage soon. Keep rocking.😉
