Turborider by Reckless Love (AFM Records)
It has always been tempting to cast Reckless Love within the genres of hair metal and sleaze rock, but these Finnish musicians have always enjoyed challenging boundaries and exceeding expectations. Their previous endeavor Invader showed a band merging in different directions while remaining a hard rocking party force. It’s been several years since their last album, but Reckless Love has returned, and what a sonic adventure these guys have in store for their fans all over the world! Imagine Turbo-era Judas Priest crashlanding into a mega hair sleaze planet of rage and mayhem, and you are just beginning to envision the auditory glory Reckless Love has in store for you!
Slamming into hydrasonic gear at once with the opening title track, Reckless Love explode into the synth wave, and the high energy intensity is wondrous to behold. Eyes Of A Maniac is the darkest song ever from the Reckless Love brigade, but the enticing beats and wicked vocals render this one an absolute standout. Outrun rocks with its Euro-dance grooves launching this one into the stratosphere. Another highlight is Reckless Love’s superb rendition of the Ozzy classic Bark At The Moon, quite a daring escapade to cover such a beloved song – but in the vibrant world of Turborider, the Finnish lads deliver the classic track in nothing short of an epic way. The spirited anthems continue on, with selections such as For The Love Of Good Times and Future Lover Boy placing an indelible stamp upon the listener. The album concludes with the wild and sleazy Prodigal Sons, with the band fully embracing the synth wave universe with fiendish glee.
Do not fear, Turborider rocks it all hard and fierce, with supreme melodies and epic choruses that remain in your head forever and a day. It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Reckless Love, and with an album as ambitious and inviting as Turborider, this next chapter has been well worth the wait. Absolute kickass performance from singer Olli Herman and his entire band throughout the Turborider experience! Tech credits are first rate, with Turborider being skillfully produced by Jonas Parkkonen (Apocalyptica, Lost Society) and mastered by Svante Forsbäck (Rammstein, Lordi, Volbeat). Climb aboard the sonic entreaties of Turborider as this is one high voltage journey music fans will want to revisit time and again!
