The Bayou Bandits at The Viper Room – Live Review

The Bayou Bandits, The Viper Room, West Hollywood, CA., March 4, 2023

Billed as “The Hottest Southern Rock Band In The Southwest,” The Bayou Bandits made their way to the infamous Viper Room on the Sunset Strip – and the group’s dynamic live performance was absolutely scorching! Performing songs from their soon to be released Arizona Stepson magnum opus, The Bayou Bandits clearly won over the audience with their memorable songs and skilled musicianship.

The bluesy Born To Lose who performed early on, transporting the Tinseltown music fanatics deep into the heart of the Louisiana Bayou. Ain’t Gonna Drown was a standout, a track about the ravages of Hurricane Katrina, leaving quite an impact on all in attendance. Kiss My Dixie Ass is the Southern Anthem for the ages, and it’s quite a stunner when performed live. Gasoline was as combustible as the title would suggest, presenting each and every member of The Bayou Bandits burning up The Viper Room stage at full speed ahead and beyond.

Front man and guitarist Joshua Strickland delivers an absolutely powerhouse performance. With an inspiring life story which includes military service in Afghanistan and caring for patients in the medical field during the height of Covid-19 pandemic, Strickland’s passion and conviction breaks through in a live setting.

Also, within the ranks of The Bayou Bandits brigade are lead guitarist and background vocalist Jeremy Madig, bassist and background vocalist Jay Kereny, and drummer Dan Johnson – all delivering the swampy badass goods tenfold. Be sure to check into The Bayou Bandits the next time they arrive to bring own raging brand of rock and roll Southern Comfort to the City Of Angels.
