Kings Of Thrash at The Whisky – Live Review
Kings Of Thrash, The Whisky, West Hollywood, CA., September 4, 2025
Kings of Thrash delivered a blistering, nostalgia-soaked performance at The Whisky on September 4th, reviving early Megadeth classics with raw energy and reverence.
The September 4th Kings of Thrash show at Whisky a Go Go was more than a concert—it was a full-throttle homage to thrash metal’s formative years, helmed by Megadeth alumni David Ellefson and Jeff Young. Joined by Chris Poland, Chaz Leon, and Fred Aching, the band tore through a setlist stacked with deep cuts and fan favorites from Megadeth’s first three albums, plus a few surprises.

The night opened with Into the Lungs of Hell, setting a ferocious tone that never let up.
Looking Down The Cross, Hook In Mouth, and Train of Consequences were delivered with tight precision and unrelenting speed, showcasing Ellefson’s thunderous bass and Young’s searing solos.
Chris Poland’s guest appearances elevated the show, especially on Killing Is My Business… and Business Is Good! and Peace Sells, adding a layer of vintage authenticity.
The inclusion of Thin Lizzy’s Cold Sweat and Black Sabbath’s Paranoid added a classic metal twist to the thrash-heavy set.

👥 Fan Reception: Fans packed the venue, many sporting vintage Megadeth shirts and trading stories of past tours. The crowd’s enthusiasm was electric—headbanging, fist-pumping, and shouting lyrics in unison. It was clear this wasn’t just a gig; it was a reunion of thrash disciples.
Verdict: Kings of Thrash didn’t just revisit the past—they reignited it. For those who lived through the golden age of thrash or those discovering it anew, this show was a masterclass in metal history, delivered with passion, precision, and plenty of grit.
