Kelly McGarry remains one of the hardest‑working promoters in Los Angeles, consistently filling iconic rooms like The Viper Room with artists who leave a lasting impression. One of the most exciting young bands to emerge from these showcases is The Wendolls, a fiery collective clearly destined for a breakout moment. Their early set on this late‑August night nearly blew the roof off the infamous venue, fueled by mesmerizing talent and a ripping blend of originals and inspired covers.
The Wendolls opened with a grand‑slam original titled “Why?”, instantly locking in the attention of the early arrivals with high‑energy, hard‑rocking sonic bliss. Their first cover of the evening, a gripping take on “Low” by Foo Fighters, added a fresh layer of intrigue to the classic track. Their forthcoming debut single “Ridicule” sounded absolutely stellar live — unleashed with a stunning amount of passion, precision, and emotional weight.
The momentum only intensified. Mighty renditions of Rush’s “Working Man” and Heart’s “Barracuda” showcased the band’s ability to tackle complex classics with youthful ferocity and staggering confidence. Originals such as “Select” and “Smoke and Mirrors” pulled the crowd deeper into The Wendolls’ world, reverberating throughout the hallowed walls of The Viper Room.
Frontwoman Mariana is a standout vocalist and guitarist, exuding star quality while delivering the sonic goods with fierce, vibrant command. Eden brought creativity and fire on lead guitar, while guest bassist David made a decisive impact with his masterful low‑end presence. And drummer Hunter proved to be a charismatic force of nature — a dynamic performer who sent each song soaring straight into the stratosphere.
Closing with a rapturous, full‑throttle cover of Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid”, The Wendolls left the room buzzing, breathless, and hungry for more. Fortunately, fans won’t have to wait long. The band will be performing at Hotel Ziggy with Lex Bauman on October 9th, and they’re officially slated to appear at the Highwire Daze 36th Anniversary Show at Bar 10 at the Corbin Bowl, presented in association with The Cobalt Presents.
The Wendolls are a band on the rise — and absolutely one to watch.
