The Jacks at The Troubadour – Live Review
The Jacks, The Troubadour, July 26, 2019
Based out of the ever legendary Los Angeles music scene, The Jacks made their way to The Troubadour to play a completely sold out show on a Friday night. The iconic venue was packed to the rafters with fans and friends primed and ready to rock out to one of the most promising indie rock collectives on the horizon today.
Performing in support of their recently issued Self-Titled EP on EDGEOUT / UMG Records, The Jacks absolutely enraptured the audience with their superbly infectious tunes. Opening with the spiraling refrains of Who Are You, The Jacks unleashed a show that sent the room into a euphoric state of sheer auditory bliss.
Fans of acts such as The Black Keys and The Strokes will be absolutely over the moon when encountering the exhilarating reveries of The Jacks. Selections such as Walk Away, Hello My Friend, Holy Roller, and Just A Little Bit left a grand and glorious impression. In a town jammed packed with jaded music critics who have seen it all, it was amazing to witness a hometown band so rapturous received by each and every attendee at the famed West Hollywood nightclub.
The Jacks lineup is massively talented and persuasive charismatic, featuring the participation of Jonny Stanback on vocals and rhythm guitar, Thomas Hunter on lead guitar, Scott Stone on bass, and Josh Roossin on drums. Presenting a star making performance The Troubadour has become so well known for over the decades, The Jacks had everyone singing along, dancing, and even crowd surfing – all in celebration of a band clearly ready to break it on out into the big leagues.
For the encore, The Jacks launched into an exhilarating cover of The Beatles classic Hey Jude, delivering a supremely passionate version of a timeless song. It was a powerful conclusion to the show, where band and audience merged together as one, applauding the fine art of music, live performance, and the true indie spirit that keeps our local music scene so alive and vibrant.
