The Stolen and Patternist at The Hi Hat

The Stolen, Patternist, The Hi Hat, March 7, 2018

The Stolen

Indie DIY bands on the East Coast rarely venture out to the other side of the country while on tour, but The Stolen has managed to make this happen twice within the last year. The Old Bridge, New Jersey-based collective made their way to the historic El Rey Theater last summer playing direct support to none other than Jake Miller. And on a cool Southern California night in March, The Stolen would return to the Southland – this time on a headlining tour performing at the trendy Hi Hat Club.

Drawing an impressive crowd – especially for a week night – The Stolen proceeded to enrapture the City of Angels attendees with their own sparking brand of indie pop rock and roll. Performing selections from their superb duo of EP’s – I’m So Dead and Fragile Heart – as well as a brand new single just released on ITunes – The Stolen sent the Hi Hat into an auditory bliss, and the show that was absolutely exciting to witness.

Opening with the spiraling refrains of Euphoric, the magic and intrigue found within the rapturous “I saw the motion of the stars” state of mind enveloped the audience tenfold. Another highlight from The Stolen’s sonic experience was the dynamic West Coast entreaty, which had an even greater significance being performed at a club in the Los Angeles area.

Each and every member of The Stolen exudes a glorious amount of passion and imagination when it comes to their supremely infectious songs and energetic live shows. The massively talented membership within The Stolen brigade includes Dom Cuce on lead vocals and guitar, Rob Chiarappa on guitar, Kevin Smart on bass, and Mike Chiarappa on drums. Closing out the set with their spiraling new single Overboard, it was very clear that The Stolen left an indelible impression on local music fans who will certainly revisit the band when the head out to the West Coast once again. With timeless tunes and a vibrant live presentation to back up the goods, expect The Stolen to continue taking on the nation in an epic way!

Patternist

On the cross country trek with The Stolen was Patternist from Portland, Oregon, presenting their own inspired take on the indie side of the spectrum with a good amount of drive and conviction. The mastermind behind Patternist is multi-instrumentalist Gabe Mouer, whose kaleidoscopic brand of wistful and fascinating electronic pop sets the imagination in flight.  Those who stayed on late were treated to an exhilarating performance from a truly passionate artist.  The charismatic Mouer performed on keyboards, guitar and lead vocals with the assistance of the equally talented Ashton McKenzie.  And what a truly stunning set of tunes this duo unveiled, enveloping the cavernous Hi Hat with an exhilarating amount of warmth and wonder.

Patternist opened their set with the thrilling refrains of New Fashion and proceeded to unveil a set that truly captivated the senses. Selections from the recently issued Give It Up EP were also unveiled, which would include sparkling live renditions of When The Lights Turn Low and Far From Now. A stunning Southern California debut from a truly remarkable artist who clearly captivates an audience with his heartfelt lyrics and entrancing melodies. Expect to hear a lot more from the talented Patternist in future days…
