Buckcherry, The Raskins, Motorbone, ZFG at The Canyon Club
Buckcherry, The Raskins, Motorbone, ZFG, The Canyon Club, Agoura Hills, CA, January 18, 2019
With the new album Warpaint pre-orders starting last week, with a release date set for March 8th, Buckcherry is hitting 2019 hard with a barrage of show dates! Full list of dates can be found below. The new 12 track album will be released in CD and Vinyl formats, and digital format pre-orders will receive a track early.
Buckcherry’s third of 4 California shows was at one of my favorite venues, The Canyon Club. Kicking off the show were locals ZFG, a funk-rock band that caught my attention pretty quick. This was my first time hearing them, and I look forward to catching them and their catchy beats soon.
Up next was another local group that I have been dying to see, Motorbone! The heavy rock group took the stage, getting the crowd moving. Motorbone’s sound is reminiscent of 80’s and 90’s rock that I adore, and that all rockers crave. Their sound combined with the stage presence of the whole band makes for a perfect show. I have seen bands do one or the other too often, but Motorbone dominates both.
But wait, there’s more! Out on the road with Buckcherry for the California dates was The Raskins, hailing from New York. The band is known for playing small shows, then to big arena shows with Motley Crue that ended in a lawsuit with a number of bands going after Motley Crue. Put that aside though, and you will find an amazing rock band that will have you hooked once you hear their song We Had It All. Logan and Roger Raskin have energy that is infectious, and made me want to reflect the same energy! If you want music that will elevate your mood and energy, The Raskins are the band to pop on.
After all these amazing bands, our headliners Buckcherry were ready to come out and really get the crowd moving. I hadn’t seen them since Vegas at Rock Into Spring, two years ago. With the crowd screaming, Buckcherry hit the stage opening with one of my favorite songs ever, Head Like a Hole. The cover of Nine Inch Nails got everyone moving and singing along, setting the tone for the night. Frontman Josh Todd may be the center of attention with his vocals, tambourine playing, fancy footwork, and spins, but what really caught the attention of my friends and I was the connectivity between all the members of the band, constantly smiling and playing shoulder to shoulder. I love seeing this. Buckcherry played a lot of old favorites, and some new songs that we can look forward to listening to nonstop in March. Fan favorites Lit Up, Sorry, Say Fuck It, and of course Crazy Bitch are still on the set list, leaving fans energized and satisfied. Between the great songs that are fun to sing along to, a set that is full of energy, a crew that works hard to provide perfect sounds and lighting, and a shirtless and ripped Josh Todd, what’s not to love?!
Buckcherry is starting 2019 with a bang, with the upcoming album Warpaint (go pre-order it now) and the 4 California shows. What’s next for the band? How about a two week tour in Europe that covers the UK, Germany, Switzerland, and Italy! The band will come back stateside for a week of rest, then heading out again for a full US tour for the next 2 months! See, I told you it would be a busy first half of the year for them. Check out the dates, find a show near you, and go enjoy, because deep down we are all crazy bitches that need to say fuck it!
