Warped Tour Long Beach brought together legacy acts, rising stars, and a wave of fresh energy — and few bands embodied that spirit better than Good Sleepy, the Worcester‑born emo outfit whose blend of sincerity, melody, and punk grit has earned them a fast‑growing fanbase.

I caught up with Seth Girard, Jack Wensky, and Thomas Sullivan backstage as they soaked in the chaos, excitement, and surreal moments of being part of Warped’s return. What followed was a candid, funny, and heartfelt conversation about their music, their scene, their new album Constant Humming, and even what kind of donut best represents their sound.

We’re here with three of the members of Good Sleepy. Introduce yourselves and tell me what you do in the band.
Seth: I’m Seth. I play guitar and do background vocals.
Jack: I’m Jack, and I play drums.
Thomas: I’m Thomas, the bass player and lead vocalist.

Tell me about where you’re from.
Seth: Worcester, Massachusetts. It’s really sick — lots of emo bands, lots of hardcore bands. The scene is super close‑knit and really fun.

How did Good Sleepy form?
Jack: Thomas and Seth met in high school, and they met our other bandmate Ryan there too. I met them playing a show at Seth’s house with another one of my bands, and they asked me to join a year or two later.
We met Charlie in college, and he’s been with us for a few months now.

What have been your Warped Tour highlights today?
Seth: Seeing Hot Mulligan and Arms Length — two of my favorite bands. Walking around and taking it all in has been amazing. Hanging out in the artist lounge, seeing bands I’ve loved for years… I’ve definitely been a little fanboy at times.
Jack: Same here. We’ll be in a golf cart heading to a stage and I’ll be like, “That’s the drummer from Underøath!” Also, having friends here who are playing too — that’s been really special.
Thomas: It’s super exciting. I’m just happy to be here. It’s surreal to be back at Warped Tour. We haven’t been able to come since it ended around 2019. And I’m just happy to be in California. We love it here.

What can fans expect from a live Good Sleepy show?
Seth: We like to have fun. We jump around, get everybody moving, make sure everyone’s having a good time. That’s the main thing — sound good and have a ton of fun.

You have a new single out called Keep the Pace. What was the inspiration behind that single?
Thomas: It mostly stems from burnout — just feeling burned out in general. Band‑wise, we love Hot Mulligan and The Story So Far. Everyone in the band has been listening to those artists a lot lately, so they’re a huge inspiration for the new stuff we’re putting out this summer.

Your album is called Constant Humming. Tell me about that album and the inspiration behind the title.
Thomas: The title refers to an overall theme of emotional backlog — feelings that hover in your mind. That’s what I’m trying to talk about lyrically on the album.

Let’s talk about the opening track, All At Once.
Thomas: That one’s about feeling like you’re going to explode. It comes in fast and opens the album with a bang. I wanted the name and the theme to match that energy.

Tell me about Looming.
Thomas: “Looming” is more laid‑back and chill — a breather on the album. It’s a type of song we’ve never really leaned into before. It has more indie‑pop and indie‑rock influence than punk. We love that kind of music too, so that was a big inspiration.

Okay, let’s go to the end of the album — Inception.
Thomas: “Inception” is tough to talk about because I wrote it so long ago. It’s basically the inception of the album — where everything came from. I try to touch on that in the song itself. There’s a lot packed into it, so it’s hard to give a short answer.

Now you have a tour coming up — the Constant Humming Tour?
Seth: I’m really excited. We’re doing most of the shows with a band called Summerbruise. I’m a big fan of them. And I’m excited to get on the road again.
Jack: Same here. We incorporated Warped Tour Montreal into that run, so I’m excited to get up there because I’ve never been. Then we hit the road for two weeks.\

If the music of Good Sleepy was a donut, what kind would it be and why?
Seth: A blueberry donut. A little unique, but just so good.
Thomas: I’d say a glazed chocolate donut with chocolate frosting and chocolate sprinkles. Chocolate‑chocolate. It just sounds good — and Good Sleepy is kind of like chocolate and frosting with also chocolate sprinkles.
Jack: What they said.

And then what’s up for you guys in the future?
Seth: We have two new songs coming out pretty soon — within the next couple months. We’re going to be on the road a lot and recording new music. Probably another record next year or the year after. Just a lot of touring.
