On The Road with Limberlost – Playing The Whisky This Sunday October 4th!
Seattle-based hard rock outfit Limberlost are riding a wave of momentum as they make their way across the country, winning over audiences with their powerful live performances, emotionally charged songwriting, and a growing legion of devoted fans known as the “Lost Ones.” Fresh off appearances at major events including Rock the Locks Festival and a high-profile opening slot for Sammy Hagar at the legendary Full Throttle Saloon during Sturgis, the band now sets its sights on one of the most iconic stages in rock history.
As they prepare to headline The Whisky a Go Go on the Sunset Strip, Limberlost are also celebrating the release of their latest single, “The Devil Never Sings,” while continuing to build anticipation for the next chapter of their musical journey. Highwire Daze recently caught up with drummer and founding member Mike Burt along with vocalist Brittany Laurèn to discuss life on the road, their latest music, the significance of playing The Whisky, and what lies ahead for Limberlost.
Please introduce yourself, tell me what you do in Limberlost, and how long the band has been together.
Mike: Hey I am Mike Burt the drummer and one of the songwriters, management team and founding member for Limberlost. I basically started this project back in 2011. Brittany and Tony came on in 2018 but the band in it’s current line up and soundcape has been together since 2024 when we started our third album project “Beautiful Scars”
Brittany: My name is Brittany. I am the singer and one of the songwriters and part of the management team that helps drive the engine of Limberlost. The band founded several years before I joined!
Where is the band based, and what is your local music scene like?
Mike: Well mostly from just south of Seattle but a couple of us a full time travellers (RVers) so a little bit here and there.
Brittany: Based out of Seattle. We don’t consider ourselves a local Seattle band anymore, and there are some great acts coming out of the area. Highly encourage anyone to check out Sami Chohfi, Josh Kain, and Wyatt Olney and the Wreckage.
As we are doing this interview, you’re currently on the road. Where are you right now, and how has the tour been going overall?
Mike: We just wrapped up the Rock the Locks Festival in Umatilla, Oregon and are currently making our way to Twin Falls Idaho where we will be playing their Octoberfest. Shout out to our boy Broc at 103.1 FM for making that happen!
How did Rock the Locks Festival go, and what were some of the highlights of that experience?
Brittany: Goodness where to start! The biggest highlight was seeing the amount of fans that returned wearing our merch and waving our colors! Lost Ones are growing out there. Definitely have to shout out to the Lost One that wore the gloves I tossed offstage last year! Rock the Locks is one of the best run festivals. I highly encourage joining the family.
What was it like opening for Sammy Hagar? Did you have a chance to meet or spend any time with him?
Mike: Man the Sammy show was awesome! Full Throttle Saloon at the Sturgis Bike Rally. On the full blown arena stage! It was sick! For me being an old time rocker to get to share the stage with Sammy, Satriani, Aronoff and Anthony…. not much else to say. Unfortunatley we didn’t get a chance to interact because they arrived after our set and the crew locks down the backstage. But they put on a hell of a show!
What are you looking forward to most about your upcoming headlining show at The Whisky a Go Go on the Sunset Strip?
Brittany: Headlining The Whisky is some bucket list stuff! We are joining the ranks of some of the biggest names, and for me I feel the pressure to put on the best show and bring the best singing I can.
Your latest single is entitled “The Devil Never Sings.” What was the inspiration behind the song, and what does it mean to you personally?
Brittany: I remember my mother telling me as a child that angels sing and God asks to sing his praise so she would tell me singing is the closest form of praise. I had this strange revelation that the reverse of that means the devil never sings. I did a little Google research and have learned that in no biblical text Christian or Catholic or Jewish or any, does it mention the devil singing. How many people have been told to not listen to a certain artist because it was “devil” music? The devil will talk to you, never sing 😉
Your previous single, “Sugar,” has a very different vibe. What inspired that song, and how does it fit into the overall direction of Limberlost?
Brittany: It’s definitely a little more pop-rock than the others and that’s definitely my influence. Sugar was about a year in the making, from a small idea I had to have a song with a crowd response “keep the masses happy with sugar” into an anthem to break down constructs and speak directly to the being listening to it. I’m very proud of it, and I think it falls into the line of lyrical strength Limberlost is becoming known for.
Is there another Limberlost song you expect to play at The Whisky that you’d like to tell us about? What inspired the lyrics, and what makes that song special to you?
Mike: Actually we have a new cover on the Villain EP and it will be our next single launch in a couple months. It’s a Beatles cover of “In My Life” that Brittany just takes to another level. But we have so many new ones it like picking your favorite kid.
Brittany: I’m extremely excited to be taking The Devil Never Sings out on these runs because it hits so well, but for me the most vocally challenging piece I helped write is “Give It To Me,” when I reproduced the redux I added an ending with layered scream, belt, and opera. At first I did it for fun not thinking we could release it cause I thought there was no way we could perform it live. We perform it live and with no tech tracks! In the end two, of the Limberlost boys are belting, one is screaming, and I’m hitting the opera. That particular song uses almost all vocal styles I know how to, the range is insane! I look forward to getting lost at the A-GoGo!
Looking ahead, what’s next for Limberlost? Can fans expect more new music, touring, or any other exciting developments?
Mike: The Whisky show most likely be our last 2026 appearance, maybe a private show or two but pretty much getting to work on 2027 and a few other priorities. We will however be releasing our new EP in early 27 and hopefully some new video content.
Any final words for your fans and for the readers of Highwire Daze?
Mike: Yes keep buying music and going to shows!! It’s what keeps this art form alive!
Brittany: Get lost folks 🙂 in our camp, that’s an invitation to join us and become a Lost One. See you at the next show!
Limberlost will be headlining The Whisky this Sunday, October 4th!
