Jei-Rynn at The Viper Room – Live Review
Jei-Rynn, The Viper Room, West Hollywood., CA, July 15, 2023
So as The Viper Room may or may not be seeing their final days on the Sunset Strip, the infamous venue rages on with its star making live shows. Local artist Jei-Rynn took to the stage on the night of July 15th, presenting a vibrant set of punk pop and indie rock. Jei-Rynn recently issued his Overreacting EP on compact disc, complete with a bonus track – and his performance at The Viper Room showcased songs from the recording as well as a few brand-new selections as well. And within a live setting, these tunes absolutely rock and rage with a tremendous amount of passion and conviction.
Opening the set with a rousing rendition of Bloodsuckers and then slamming into the brilliant reverberations of Oxytoxin, Jei-Rynn and his band captivated The Viper Room attendees with an engaging performance. Tunes such as Make Me and I’m Done are highlights from Overreacting, and sound even more infectious with a powerhouse sense of urgency when performed live. A few of the new songs which left quite an impression included Screaming Inside, and Okay, U Got Me.
Jei-Rynn has quite a magnetic presence onstage – recalling greats such as Robert Smith of The Cure and Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance – while exuding his very own personality through the impassioned lyrics, instantly memorable songs, and dazzling live performance. Oscar Gagne sent the room spinning with his shredding guitar interludes while Nachiket Karekar supplied super intensive beats with his pulsating drum work.
Jei-Rynn is one of the most underrated performers in L.A. unveiling a brilliant collision of imagination, passion and sonic artistry. In a world of the Vans Warped Tour, this artist would reign supreme. With a first-rate EP and the live show to back it all up, it won’t be long until the emotionally devastating songs of Jei-Rynn will be blasting above and beyond the City of Angels. Stay tuned…
