Here is the 1st interview I did with Marty of Early Seasons from 2011. This was in support of their debut And The World Stops EP…

Introduce yourself, tell me what you do in Early Seasons, and how long the band has been together.
My name is Marty, singer of Early Seasons. The band has been created about 1 year ago.

Where is the band based out of and what is your local music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
The band is based out almost exclusively in Paris. We have no places defined but we’ve been performing in almost all the best underground scenes of Paris. as a local band, I will definitely recommend The Great Divide, friends of mine and Back On Earth. I really like what those guys do.

Is there any story or concept behind the title And The World Stops?
I was hearing about 2012 and the supposed end of the world. I remember being really pissed off because we will actually be starting our promotion. Why pissed off? Just because I would like to do what I love with my buddies more than a single year… if our fans keep supporting us the way they do, I hope it will last forever.

Select two songs from And The World Stops and what inspired the lyrical content.
I’ll talk first about Let’s Say the Truth cuz it’s my first real creation and my favorite. I’m talking about a lot of things that i can’t explain to everyone, many problems happened in my young life so i used those for this song.

And the second will be probably Surrender cuz this one was really created in a special part of my life when everything gone right for me and there was a really good atmosphere during the recording of Surrender!

What could one expect from a live Early Seasons show
We try to be perfect for our fans to give them an exceptional show every time! A new show a new adventure for every new show – it’s always different! We have fun and we want to share it!

What was it like opening for Funeral For A Friend and did you get to hang out with them at all?
In fact, the show was canceled, FFAF were trapped in Spain for a bus tour problem, so we were really sad but still happy because it was the manager of FFAF who choose us so that mean that maybe FFAF liked us. We’re still proud for that! Few weeks ago, we played with While She Sleeps and Bury Tomorrow.ย  It was amazing! We were good, public were good, and we had fun!

Any chance of Early Seasons coming over to the States to play some shows?
It ‘ll be awesome and we’ll be so stoked! It’s maybe our biggest dream travel the States to rock into the US.ย  But we need a label for that! So, for now, the most important is to work harder for the album to have what our fans are expected from us and the time will tell – but we wish it so bad!

How close are you to releasing a full-length album?
We’re actually into this hardly, we are trying to get some huge things!ย  New inspirations, new directions – we are sharing our inspirations and some greats things happened!

How long did it take the film the video for Surrender and who came up with the idea for the concept?
The idea came from our extraordinary film director Flavien! He’s so great! But the making of Surrender was maybe one of the worst days in my all life cuz whe shot during 18 hours under a sun at 40 degrees!! And we played like 7 or 8 times. Surrender under the harder sun I ever seen!!

Since everyone in the band appears to get abducted at the end of the video, what do you believe when it comes to life in outer space and are you guys science fiction fans?
I’m actually a big fan of Star Wars and Julien (the guitarist) is too – in fact we are all in the band fans of science fiction films. It was really strange to see ourselves in the screen lol but a fucking great experience!!

What has the reaction been to your music here in the States so far?
Just awesome cuz we are really inspired by the American culture, and we like the fact that American people love our music. It’s a beautiful love proof and it’s not just in America and that’s wonderful!

Any final words of wisdoms?
We love all of our fans!! And the world will never stop till we’ll stay to the scene. Be ready for Early Seasons world! We are coming!

Note: Early Seasons would sign to Artery Recordings in 2014 – you could read their 2nd interview here.
