The Adicts, House Of Blues – Anaheim, October 28, 2018There were no tricks only treats when the Legendary British Punk band The Adicts hit Southern California over Halloween week. Making their first stop at the House of Blues, in Anaheim California on Sunday, October 28th.
I first became aware of The Adicts in November 2017, with the release of their eleventh studio album And It Was So via Nuclear Blast Records, yes, better late than never. Their upbeat, catchy tunes caught my attention, so when The Adicts made their way to the Fox Theatre in Pomona, California, in July of this year, it a must cover their show. I instantly became a fan.
The lights dim, the introduction music is playing, the fans are all singing along, I’m taking a moment feeling their euphoria, I noticed several loyal fans dressed up as the Clockwork Orange Droog, face painted, wearing all white with a black derby hat.
The stage curtain goes up, as you see founding member, drummer Michael “Kid Dee” Davison standing tall with his arms raised high behind the kit, brother and founding member guitarist Pete “Pete Dee” Davison, rhythm guitarist Highko Strom and bassist KiKi Kabel, as frontman Keith “Monkey” Warren is standing front and center, wrapped up like a cocoon, spreading his wings to a birth of a new show, opening with Lets’s Go. As Monkey transforms, shedding his wings, to a deck of cards in his hand, for Joker in the Pack, both from the album Sound of Music flicking the cards out to the fans, that is all it took for the body surfing starts. Rounding out the first three songs raining confetti with Horrorshow from the album All The Young Droogs.
The Adicts are from Ipswich, Suffolk, England, over four decades and eleven studio albums, from the looks they don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. But this isn’t all about The Adicts; there was a marriage proposal onstage, and she said YES!, dedicating the song I Am Yours from the album, Fifth Overture, as the fans sang every word celebrating this moment. Ending the show with Viva La Revolution from the album Songs of Praise, fans were singing loud and proud. So much fun!
In their ninety minute show, there were streamers, confetti, teddy bears, monkeys, beach balls, playing cards, naughty girls, and a mosh pit that took 90% of the main floor, a marriage proposal, twenty-two songs that brought happiness to the soul, this is a feel-good show, its one you have to see to believe, trust me!
Their time here in Southern California is over once again; they’ll be back to their loyal fans. Catch a show you won’t be disappointed; you’ll become a fan. Keep up with news on all social media. You only live once… so live!!
