Duran Duran at North Island Credit Union Amphitheater – Live Review and Photos

Duran Duran, North Island Credit Union Amphitheater, Chula Vista, CA., August 22. 2023

It was a night of music and memories under the stars at the North Island Credit Union Amphitheater in Chula Vista – and the band ready to make it happen was the legendary Duran Duran!  Many in the audience discovered Duran Duran either through their exotic videos in the heyday of MTV or on the iconic KROQ radio station.

The band continues their popularity with First Wave on Sirius XM and within the hearts and minds of music fans all over the world.  Now in the midst of their FUTURE PAST – 40th Anniversary Tour, Duran Duran performed a massive set jam packed with fans favorites from a vast and epic career in music.

After tremendously solid support sets from Nile Rodgers & Chic and Bastille, Duran Duran took the stage and opened with a dazzling one-two punch of Night Boat and Wild Boys.  One of their biggest hits Hungry Like The Wolf was played early on, and still sounds amazing when performed live.

One absolutely powerful moment was when Duran Duran performed the sweeping Ordinary World, dedicating the poignant moment to the people in Ukraine.  And on a fun and frenzied note, it was wild and wonderful to witness Duran Duran cover White Lines by Grandmaster Flash towards the end of their set.

At press time, Duran Duran announced the release of a brand-new album entitled Dance Macabre, available October 27 on Tape Modern via BMG!   Included on the new album is a single entitled Black Moonlight with Duran Duran reunited with long-time friend, collaborator, and tour mate Nile Rodgers in a timeless display of dance-rock glamour.  Here’s hoping we see Duran Duran back on the road soon playing songs from the new album as well as the classics we all know and love.
