Riding With Killers Announce Upcoming Shows + Release Music Video For Single “Novelty”
The single comes from their newest album Full Circle released in December. The band features Taylor Roberts, guitarist of Taproot.
Riding With Killers, a Detroit based alt/metal trio featuring current and ex-members of Taproot etc, have released a new music video for their single “Novelty”. Film director Jackson Swan (Eternal Code etc) helmed the effort and conjures a production quality and storyline that matches perfectly with the much buzzed single. The video takes the viewer on a journey through that all-too-familiar relationship where one side is strung along while the other plays games with the heart. As Roberts is taken on and put back on the shelf, there have been moments where we have all felt like a “Novelty” in a relationship.
Riding With Killers (RWK) delivers a fresh blend of alt, rock and metal that sets the bar high as Roberts combines his past experiences fronting and writing for multiple groups over the years including Wild Fire and Cathercist. The new RWK album ‘Full Circle’ was released on December 9th and blends a fiery mix of 90’s alt rock, industrial and nu metal to create a sound that is a sonic assault while balancing things out with infectious choruses and memorable guitar riffs. The “Novelty” single and album was produced by Matthew Laplant and other singles from the album including “DNA” and “Hostility” are now streaming online.

The 12 songs on ‘Full Circle’ showcase the diverse range of guitarist/vocalist Taylor Roberts’ talent, and serves as a storytelling platform for many of the life challenges and successes he has endured over recent years. The lead track “Do This On My Own” and artwork (by Roberts) was inspired by a time he was lost on an island in the Bahamas, and he realized that if he didn’t have the tools to do things himself, he could be in quite the bad position. While on his adventures he snapped photos which became part of the artwork for the ‘Full Circle’ release. Roberts also enlisted the help of friends Paul McCoy of 12 Stones (on World Apart) and Jennie Nord of Rave The Reqviem (on In Silence) for guest vocals.
Taylor Roberts, who is the newest guitarist of Taproot, formed Riding With Killers (RWK) in 2018 in the ashes of his former projects Cathercist and Wild Fire, which both had success in the hard rock genre over the years. Roberts befriended RWK’s 1st drummer Dave Coughlin on tour in 2013, when Coughlin was actually the drummer of Taproot. The two linked up for co-writing with friends Tim Krukowski (ex-Sponge), producer Matthew LaPlant and James Lascu (ex-Wilson) . The single was mastered by Matthew LaPlant at Madtown Mix Studios and the band is rounded out by their newest drummer, Jed Thibeault (Avalon Black etc) and bassist Kris Kress.
