You never know what amazing bands the ongoing Dirty Mondays Presents will bring your way at clubs all across L.A. On this particular Thursday night, Sleeping Dog would be co-headlining. The band certainly looked cool as hell in their Instagram photos, and I am happy to say that their music and live show seals the deal and then some. Unleashing their own modern take on the KORN / Linkin Park / Bring Me The Horizon trifecta, Sleeping Dog sent the room into an intensive ultrasonic bliss.
Opening with the devastating reveries of 107.1 SD FM and then slamming into the gripping What?, Sleeping Dog delivered a sonic howl that would wake the dead. The absolutely solid set would proceed with a rapturous energy and intrigue, with selections such as Everybody’s Gonna Die Anyway, Poster Boy, Cherry Pick, and Silence of the Dogs leaving a quite an impact on the gathered Dirty Mondays attendees.
Front and center is their ferociously charismatic vocalist Rin, captivating the audience with his vibrantly impassioned performance. Jack and Nick absolutely shred it into the stratosphere on guitar. And then bringing it all home with an all-out vengeance is Tyler on bass and Jojo on drums – a very robust and pulsating rhythm section.
I don’t know how Sleeping Dog has been playing around in L.A. for a decade now, and I am just now discovering who they are. Better late than never to encounter a brand-new band to become very excited about. With live shows this exhilarating, it won’t be long before Sleeping Dog find themselves enrapturing bigger venues with fevered fans in tow. Listen to Sleeping Dog on Spotify for further awakenings into this epically underrated rock and rage collective!
